I was almost immediately reminded of Prey as I started playing Subterrain. So I was all, “YES! This’ll tide me over until June when the next bit of Prey is released or revealed. Huzzah!” And while further playing did indeed reveal the two games have similarities, there’s a lot more that separates them. Not least the form of presentation. Plus, one’s a trihple ayyyy (or, AAA) and t’other’s an indie. But both of those things are besides the point. They are somewhat irrelevant. Why have I mentioned them? Because I can.
In which one brave writer wades into the thick, swampy waters of his backlog and plays a random game from it for an hour or two. Probably with little-to-no prior knowledge of said game, because he’s forgotten why he bought it.
I got the gist of what was happening, but I barely understood what the hell was going on in Virginia. Apparently, that’s by design. Or I’m just stupid. It could be a mixture of the two. It isn’t though.
Ahoy! As the title suggests, I’ve spent a few hours in Sea of Thieves. What I’ve played so far, I love. Aargh. I half-heartedly promise to keep pirate themed vocabulary to a minimum. But I’m sure there’ll be points where it’s required, ye scurvy dogs and/or landlubbers.
I started writing this at 39 hours. Then I started writing it again at 62 hours. Finally, here I am at 85 hours. Infection has set in. My flesh has rotted and flaked from my bones, and I’ve managed to get the game’s teeth out of me.
I don’t really know how this happened. I only installed it to say I’d given it a go. I fully expected to ditch it after a couple of hours.
I haven’t played a Zelda game since Wind Waker in 2002. I bought a Switch in November specifically to play BoTW. I figured it was worth it based on the strength of praise both the game and console were getting. I was excited. I couldn’t wait. When my Switch was delayed by a day, I nearly cried. Skip to the end: I’ve not been more disappointed in a game since… I don’t know. Perhaps, without hyperbole, it’s the most disappointing game I’ve ever played. Goddamn hype trains, man. Love the Switch though.
Whoooop. Got a new shiny mechanical keyboard today. It’s all brushed aluminium and backlit LEDs. SERIOUSLY shiny.
I keep thinking about things I want to write and throwing them at the backs of my eyeballs and fingers from my stupid, lazy brain for weeks and weeks, then when I come to write them I realise I’m as incoherent and inarticulate on paper as I am verbally. Then I remember that videogames are more fun and way easier. So, I switch windows to Steam.
